DYSPHORIANA

18TH SEPTEMBER 2025

THE ART’OTEL HOXTON

Renowned eco designers VIN + OMI mark the start of London Fashion week with a groundbreaking show: DYSPHORIANA

World’s first in collaboration with King Charles III and Dame Prue Leith in a parachute

“It’s hard to produce a fashion show that’s light and fluffy when most people are experiencing dysphoria. We are all wading through political treacle at the moment. Treacle produced by the intensity of global wars and UK’s growing problems; it’s an unreal time” VIN + OMI

Dysphoriana is a show that creatively reflects the general current state of the world. It’s also a show that tries to show a way forward in eco developments.

Continuing VIN + OMI’s collaboration with King Charles III, VIN + OMI have produced another textile word’s first from Sandringham’s plant waste with red barked dogwood. This woody shrub, native to Siberia and China has produced a fine lightweight textile with the colourful red bark used as a dye. The dress made from this unique fabric will make its first public airing at the Dysphoriana show.

This is the third world’s first in textile development from VIN + OMI following on from their development of chestnut leather and Butterbur from Sandringham.

Other plant materials, including nettle, butterbur and wood clippings will also be turned into textile for the collection. Milk cartons from Sandringham will also be turned into a new thin paper textile that will be used in the show.

VIN + OMI continue their work with large institutions to explore new ways of recycling and eco development. A long-term collaboration with RAF Brize Norton starts with plastic and parachute recycling with Dame Prue Leith wearing a recycled parachute. VIN + OMI’s work with art supplies leader Daler-Rowney has recycled their waste paint tubes into print dresses on the catwalk.

Two of the garments in the show have been made with a group of volunteers from Multaka Oxford, an agency providing opportunities for forced migrants. This project, in conjunction with Oxford Brookes Art and Design Foundation, explored using recycled UK collected plastic textile from VIN + OMI UK clean-up schemes into appliqué flowers.

This season recycled garments have been reworked from the British Heart Foundation second hand garment store. Dresses and suits have been repurposed using eco dyes and processes. Supporting the BHF is important for the designers  since Omi’s recent heart attack.

VIN + OMI have also teamed up with leading hair styling tool brand Cloud 9 to promote a new campaign for Ditch the Label, the global youth charity that supports young people who have issues with mental health, identity and victims of bullying. Campaign garments will be on the catwalk.

The host venue Art’otel Hoxton have appointed VIN + OMI as their new Ambassadors. They will be working with the Art’otel group to develop new creative and sustainable projects. To kickstart this relationship, hotel linen and plastic have been recycled into textile for the catwalk

VIN + OMI attracts one of the widest range of followers in the fashion world with young punks sitting next to middle aged bankers and celebrities.  Their catwalk models also reflect this diversity:

Dame Prue Leith models on the catwalk for VIN + OMI for the fourth time. A strong supporter of VIN + OMI’s work, Prue, 85 is joined by journalist Jane Moore; known for her recent stint in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and her regular gig on Loose Women. Eco supporter Jo Wood will also be walking alongside cool new London models. Raffey Beeny, son of Sarah Beeny and band member of The Entitled Sons will make his debut on a catwalk.
