A world first, in collaboration with HRH King Charles III, launching on Sept 11th

This show is called Omnia. A word that describes how we work pretty well. 

Omnia = everything. The way we work considers .. everything, or we like to think it does !  Throughout the year we develop new techniques and textiles that consider all eco and environmental aspects, ethics, innovation, social impact projects, education and hopefully creativity and fun. 

For this collection we will be revealing a world's first in collaboration with HRH King Charles III.

 

We have collaborated with King Charles III since 2019. This collaboration has seen the development of new sustainable textiles and processes. For this show, we switched our attention to Sandringham the large estate HRH took over when he became king. 

At the side of a large lake next to Sandringham House grows a plant called the Giant Butterbur - this is an invasive Chinese plant needs to be cut back every year as breeds like a rabbit. 

After months of experimenting, we managed to produce a few meters of textile from the plant. A world’s first.  This dress is kind of a bronze gold and looking different from the rest of the collection. The fabric feels like heavy silk . 

 

There’s also an orange jacket made from Sandringham nettles and dyed with Turmeric. That’s over an orange dress made from the estates wood clippings

 

Also on show will be latex garments produced from our pioneering eco latex plantation in Malaysia. The plantation, now in its 20th year, has developed education and health programmes for the families working producing the latex. The eco planation is now used as a gold standard example of eco plantation management in Asia.

 

The printed outfits are made from plastic recycled from leading art brand Daler-Rowney's UK HQ. This has been made into a microfibre bonded textile. We’ve  worked with Daler-Rowney for many years exploring new ways of doing the right sustainable thing. 

 

Also on the catwalk is a new project with our host venue, exploring ways in which hotel waste can be made into garments. This pilot project has taken waste linen from One Hundred Shoreditch and looked at creative ways in which hotel waste linen can be used. This is part of an education project with Oxford Brookes Uni

 UK hotels produce 289,700 tonnes of waste every year, a significant amount of this is textiles. The USA hotel industry produces a staggering 10 million tons of textile waste a year.  

This pilot project with One Hundred Shoreditch will be developed into a wider social impact project with the Spitalfield’s Crypt Trust, the charity supports people with drug and alcohol addictions . 

 

The show is crowned by hair brand KMS's sustainable approach to styling hair via lead stylist Sam Burnett. VIN + OMI are working with KMS to develop a new sustainable way of working with their UK salons.

ECO EGG

Our Founder, Dawn, battled with eczema herself growing up and when she realised how sensitive skin can be to normal detergents through her own struggles, the ecoegg Laundry Egg was born *applauds*. She wanted to design detergent that contained no nasties, and thus came up with detergent pellets. 


Of course, the detergent pellets needed a sustainable home to perch themselves within. As a result, the reusable Laundry Egg was born *double applauds*. 

So in answer to the question, it was the magic within the Laundry Egg which was born first. The detergent formula was at the crux of the solution to finding a sustainable, skin – friendly alternative to laundry day. It just so happens the Laundry Egg became its perfect partner in crime.


Our egg has undergone some changes since its conception. From the original white packaging to our kraft, brown box, we’ve been through some changes! Despite evolving over the years, our eggs have always had 100% sustainably-sourced FSC cardboard boxes to nest themselves in.
