PUBLIC ART
We undertake public art commissions where we can produce something unique. This may be the actual artwork, the sustainable way in which that artwork is produced or the effect on the community. Every artwork includes community engagement and involvement.
Beetle Pavillion : Hyde Park : London
We wanted to create a temporary structure that could hold small pop-up concerts and then be dismantled into smaller units for other meetings or events such as a children’s play area or pop-up cafe. The pavilion is made from 100% recycled materials including waste plastic and metal cans salvaged from the neighbourhood and park.
Lightweight recycled seating : Edinburgh : Scotland
In response to a request. We developed a slot-together system for public seating that is made from recycled plastic that was collected from the local area. The seating involves community participation, education, recycling and produces a easy to dismantle, functional seating unit that is great for public events.
Stone Seating : Aylesbury : UK
We explored different quarrying options for our stone seating. Quarrying stone is a relatively sustainable way to produce building material, but we decided to work with the quarry to produce a long term carbon offset programme. This programme ensures that for each order of stone extraction, contributions to a certified local environmental conservation and planting programme is actioned.
Angels : LA : USA
We developed a programme to identify parks and areas that were designated as clean up zones and in special need of attention. These zones were put on a rotational list for a local volunteer clean up squad who ensured each zone’s rubbish was cleared up. The aluminium cans collected from this scheme was made into our large angel markers that were located in each zone to define the clean - up zone.
